Adjacent to the Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston, TX is an abandoned, underground cistern, larger than a football field. We worked with artist Donald Lipski to create a periscope to look down into this amazing space. The periscope is housed in a jasmine covered arbor shaped like crossing tubes, 10 feet in diameter. It is viewable and controllable from online devices, as well as from the periscope itself. The cistern is open for small tours (make a reservation here), and eventually, the cistern will be a space for temporary art exhibits. We worked with the Houston technology firms FuelFX and Wildcat Development in creating the hard/soft ware to run the piece. View Down Periscope! online.
